Devon Dumplings v Platypods

Friday 08 July 2011 at Exeter County

DD 345-4 Platypods 160 (40 overs

These new opponents, based on the masters of Cranleigh School in Surrey, proved rather weak, especially in bowling, and we were able to post a remarkably high total and winning margin for a 40-over game. Our start was unpromising, both openers out for 9, but then Dollow, with 161 in 104 balls, and Kelmere, 104 not out in 59 balls, flayed the bowling in a huge and most aggressive stand of 199 in just 65 minutes.

The visitors, unsurprisingly, soon fell behind the very demanding asking rate; only one of them reached 20, and they were all out in 32 overs. The scorer records the appearance of a double rainbow at 6.44 - perhaps a celebration of our impending big victory.
