Devon Dumplings v Frogs

Thursday 02 August 2018 at Exeter County

Frogs 232-8 DD 192 ao

On a late summer's day, the Dumplings were beaten by the Frogs by a margin of 39 runs in an interesting encounter at the County Ground, Exeter.

Two strong, young sides met as Sam Ewen lost his first toss as match manager, with the Frogs electing to bat first. A steady start from the top order developed into a competitive total of 232- 8 declared, despite some testing bowling from the Devon Dumplings attack led by Dan Fogerty.

The chase started well, with James Ewen and Jack Lewis negating the new ball. The introduction of leg spinner Joe O'Gorman proved the downfall for the Dumplings, with an extraordinary spell spanning nearly 16 overs, taking 8 wickets. There was some late resistance from Gary Sizmur and Dan Fogerty who put on 73 for the 8th wicket, but it wasn't enough as the home side fell short.

The Frogs 232 for 8 dec. off 57 overs (C Carson 59, R Lawrence 35, D Fogerty 4 for 21).

Devon Dumplings 192 all out of 43.4 overs (G Sizmur 51, D Fogerty 47, J O’Gorman 8 for 71).
