Devon Dumplings v Blundell's

Wednesday 01 May 2024 at School

DD 90 ao Blundell's 90-4 won by 6 wickets

Dumplings won the toss on a damp overcast day, but the wicket looked good so decided to
have a bat first. It was tough going though, but at 50-2 a decent platform was set.
Unfortunately, the platform gave way under foot as wickets fell with alarming regularity.
All the batters struggled to find the kind of early season timing that was needed. 50-2
became 63-5, then 83-7 and finally 90 all out.
Opener Ed Smout Cooper looked good for his 18, Graham White, Felix Joseph and Shaquan
Glasgow all scored in the teens but no one could go on.
After an excellent tea provided by the School, the conditions worsened, insistent mizzle,
most unpleasant, and the ball resembled a bar of soap. Like us, Blundell’s also reached 50
odd for not many, but with a ball so wet and almost impossible to hold, although all our
bowlers performed tidily, none could prize out enough of their batters as they got home
after 24.4 overs.
The whole match can be seen on Youtube at:

of the season - scroll to 3:38:50 - the batter’s reaction is priceless!
Thank you to Derek & Wendy as always for scoring, and Tim for umpiring.
