Devon Dumplings v South Oxfordshire Amateurs
DDCC 275/3 dec (47.1 ) beat S.O.A. 199 all out (35.4 ) by 76 runs
Skipper Harry Kandampully won the toss and chose to bat, sending in Eddie Steele and Jeremy Tojy to open the innings. Their stand of 55 got Dumplings off to a solid start with Steele out bowled for 35. Elliott Barnes then joined Tojy in another good partnership of 98 before falling for a rapid 43 to a catch off Dumpling Sangeeth Sohan (8 overs 43/1) who had volunteered to play for SOA. The third wicket partnership of 103 between James Horler (64) and Tojy was the best of the day At that point Tojy was unbeaten on 94 looking for his first century. Happily he was joined by his skipper who encouraged him to complete an excellent 101* off 153 balls when the Declaration came at 275/3.
SOA lost their first wicket off the first ball of the reply caught at the wicket by Steele off Aashay Dube. That brought in Frankie Crouch (103 off 83 balls) who became the mainstay of their innings. Jack Wilkins (31) was his main support. Wickets fell regularly with three others joining Dube with Ed Wade (23/4) leading the way, Sam Read (28/3) bowling the most overs (12) and Harry Gribble (48/1) completing the hard work! The fielding was excellent with 8 catches taken and 3 from the skipper leading by example! A good win first up.
