Devon Dumplings v North Devon

N Devon 163-7 Dumplings 180-2 (DLS)

Following a wet and breezy day on Wednesday, we were thankfully in a slightly quieter day weather wise before storm Ellen came through at the week-end. However, there was still an interruption in play which meant the application of D/L/S to our planned 40 over match.
North Devon won the toss and elected to bat, but opener James Tyson was bowled by Niall Leahy off just the second ball of the match. With his fellow opener next back in the pavilion with the score on 21 it was left to the middle order to build some partnerships. They progressed to 140 for 4 in the 32nd over before they lost two wickets when Jed Foster was run out by Eddie Jones, having built a partnership of 60 with Tom Popham. Two balls later Ashley Clements was bowled by Niall Leahy. An eventful last over yielded 14 valuable runs as well as the stumping of top scorer Tom Popham for 38, taking their score to 163 for 7 from a reduced 35 overs.
The Dumplings were left facing a revised target of 178 but they were always ahead of the required run rate and kept the scoreboard moving. Anthony Beaven and Harry Everett enjoyed a first wicket partnership of 127 before fifth change bowler Ben Howe had Beaven caught by Will Popham.  Everett was soon out too LBW, which left two youngsters at the crease, Jasper Presswell and Taylor Ingham-Hill. They batted sensibly scoring 24 and 25 respectively to see the Dumplings home in the 31st over without further mishap.
Devon Dumplings won by 8 wkts (D/L/S)
North Devon 163 for 7 (35 overs). Popham 38, Foster 33, Moore 32; Leahy 2-29, Fradgley 2-33.
Devon Dumplings 180 for 2 (30.4 overs). (Revised target 178 in 35 overs) Beaven 58, Everett 49.
