Devon Dumplings v S Dartmoor Community College

 This was the first time Dumplings have played the College as this was their first year of representative cricket and, having won the toss, Conrad Sutcliffe decided to bat in this 40 over a side match. I (PJ) had had the pleasure of umpiring the College’s first match a few weeks before against MCC and noted that some of their stronger players were absent. Kenton Vos (113) and Rob Honeybul (93) saw off six bowlers in their partnership of 212 before both were out stumped off the 7th and 8th bowlers out of a total of nine used. Corey Sinclair continued the assault on the bowling scoring 68 off 29 balls with five 4s and five 6s pushing the total to 311 for 5. 

Having opened Will Christophers (58) saw wickets tumble at the other end to 41 for 5 before he was joined by Josh Orrel (27) in a partnership of 69. After their departures the innings folded rapidly with the team all out for 129 in the 20th over. The early damage was done by Nick Dennis with 4-18 and Christian Cabburn (1-34) off four overs each before spin twins Bernie Wilson (4-51) and Nazir Khan (1-26) finished the job. 

This was a hard game for the College but they showed tenacity in the first innings and some good shots in the second. I hope that we will meet again next year.
